Design your journey
Choose the places you want to see and give each the nights it deserves. The route and an honest price range take shape as you go. Nothing here is a booking. When it looks right, send it to us. We reply within one business day, US Eastern time.
There are 54 places in nine regions. 17 of them are somewhere you sleep and the rest are visits from one. Start from the map, from the list by region, or from one of our six journeys, and change whatever you like.

- A grey photograph is a place to sleep that is not on your journey. Press it to add it.
- A photograph in colour with a gold ring and a number is a stop on your route, in order.
- Press a stop again to open its card. There you change its nights, remove it, or add the places near it.
- The gold line is your route, from Tunis.
With a keyboard, Tab enters the map once. The arrow keys move to the nearest place in that direction, Home and End go to the north and the south, Enter adds a place or opens one you have added, and Escape closes a card and then returns to the map.
Drag to move around the map. Pinch to zoom.

About the designer
- Is the price in the designer a quote?
- No. An estimate, not a quote. We confirm every price before anything is booked. A route you have designed is one we have not seen yet, so it is shown as a range and never as a single figure. When what you build matches one of our published journeys, the designer says so and gives that journey's own price, which is the figure on the journey's page. When it cannot give a number it says that, and we price the journey for you within one business day.
- Where is my journey saved?
- In the address of the page, after the # sign. Copy the link and send it to anyone and it opens to the same journey. The part of an address after the # is never sent to a server, so nothing about your trip reaches us until you press send.
- What is the difference between a place to sleep and a place to visit?
- 17 of the 54 places are somewhere you sleep, and they carry your nights. The other 37 are visits from a base, such as Dougga from Kairouan or El Djem from Sousse. A visit takes part of a day and has no night of its own.
- How many nights can I plan?
- From 6 to 14. Our published journeys run 6 to 11 nights, and one place can take up to 4. If you add nights to the trip they wait as unassigned until you give them to a stop. If you shorten the trip the designer asks which stop gives a night up. It never moves a night you have placed.
- What happens when I send my journey?
- We receive your places, your nights, your dates and who is travelling, with the email address you give us. We reply within one business day, US Eastern time. The first reply is a real one from the team that will run your journey. Sending asks for nothing about payment or passports.
- Can I use the designer without a mouse?
- Yes. The map is a single stop in the tab order. Inside it the arrow keys move to the nearest place in that direction, Home and End go to the northernmost and southernmost, Enter adds a place or opens one you have already added, and Escape returns to the map itself. The list by region does the same job with the same buttons, and it is the easier way in on a phone.
Prefer to talk it through first
Bring what you have so far, or nothing at all. Twenty minutes is usually enough to say what is possible and what it would cost.
