Ksar Ghilane
Ksar Ghilane is a remote desert encampment, reached by desert tracks once the paved road ends south of Douz. The ten and eleven day journeys spend a night in a desert camp, at Pansy Camp or similar, and the eleven day sheet has a camel trek out to the Roman fort for the sunset.

Visiting Ksar Ghilane
From Douz the road continues south, leaves the pavement and becomes a desert track through semi-arid desert, arriving in the afternoon at the remote desert encampment. Late in the day, a couple of hours before sunset, you might take a camel trek, an optional excursion that your guide helps arrange with one of the camel owners. On the eleven day sheet the trek goes out to the Roman fort to watch the sunset and returns to the encampment by moonlight.
The sheets name Pansy Camp as the desert camp on the ten and eleven day journeys, and the eleven day sheet gives the place as Ksar Ghilane, or Zmila. The Students Fun Tour also sleeps here, at the Sahara Lounge.
