- How much does a private trip to Tunisia cost?
- Our private programmes run from $1,950 a person for 7 days to $3,690 for 12, double occupancy. A traveller taking a double room alone pays a supplement of 75 dollars a night, which is $450 on the 7 day programme and $825 on the 12 day one. Those are the prices in our own programme documents rather than an estimate.
- What is included in the price?
- Every journey includes airport transfers, hotels, baggage handling, transportation as indicated, entrance fees to all sites, all meals and all taxes. Five of the six also include an English speaking guide and a welcome dinner at a fine restaurant, and four of them a 4x4 excursion. On those five, tips and drinks are the only two things not included.
- How many days do I need in Tunisia?
- Seven days covers Carthage, the Bardo, Dougga, Kairouan and the coast. Ten adds the mountain oases and a night in the Sahara past the end of the tarmac. Eleven adds Djerba. Twelve is the coast at a lighter pace. Below seven days the driving starts to own the trip.
- When is the best time to go?
- It depends on the journey, because the desert and the coast are different trips in summer. The seven and twelve day programmes run best March to June and September to November. The eight, ten and eleven day programmes run best March to May and September to November. The ones that reach Tozeur leave June out: the Institut National de la Météorologie records an average daytime high there of 98.1F (36.7C) in June and 103.1F (39.5C) in July. If you ask for a desert day in midsummer we will tell you what that is actually like before we price it, and each journey page gives its months and the figures behind them.
- Is the journey genuinely private?
- Yes. Your own guide, your own driver, your own vehicle and your own dates, with no other travellers joining. The same guide and the same driver stay with you for the whole journey, and the day is yours to change as you go.
- Is Tunisia safe for American travellers?
- The United States government publishes a travel advisory for Tunisia, with a level for the country and separate warnings for specific areas, usually near the Libyan and Algerian borders. Read it at travel.state.gov, because the level and the areas named change and a summary on a tour company's page goes stale. Tell us what you read and we will tell you exactly where your route goes.
- What happens after I send the form?
- We reply within one business day, US Eastern time. The first reply is a real one from the team that will run your journey, with questions about your dates, and a proposal follows within 48 hours of the call.
