The hotels we use in Tunisia, named

We use 15 properties and almost every line in the sheets says or similar. We do not rank them. We checked six against public sources: The Residence Tunis, The Mora Sahara Tozeur, La Cigale Tabarka, Mövenpick Sousse, Radisson Blu Djerba and Hotel La Kasbah. TUI Blue Manar has no rating here because two of our sheets disagree about it.

How to read this page

If you searched for the best luxury hotels in Tunisia, this page does not rank them, because nothing we hold would support a ranking. The documents we work from name the properties our programmes use, and that is what we know. This guide lists every one of them, says which programmes use it, and then says what public sources confirm about the six we could check, and what we could not confirm.

Three things about the names. Almost every line in the sheets ends "or similar", so a named hotel is the plan and a similar property may stand in. Two lines do not, both on the twelve day programme: Le Royal Hammamet and Africajad are named flat, and the table below marks which is which. Where a sheet names alternatives for a stop, they are shown as a choice. And "what our sheets file it under" is the heading of the star list on our own sheet. It is not an independent rating.

"Tunis" includes Gammarth and Sidi Bou Said. A guest house and a desert camp are called what our sheets call them, whatever star heading their list is filed under. The programmes are listed by name and link to their own pages, which give the nights at each property.

Why TUI Blue Manar has no rating here

The seven day programme lists TUI Blue Manar under five stars. The Students Fun Tour lists it under four. Both are our own documents, so neither is wrong: the same property is sold into two different products. We print no rating on either page, because a visitor who compared the two would find one hotel with two ratings.

What public sources confirm

We checked six properties against public sources on 9 October 2026. For each we say what the source shows and what it does not.

PropertyWhat we foundSource
The Residence Tunis, GammarthOperating. Its official site is live and offers a Tunis to Douz package valid to 20 December 2026. On the seafront at Gammarth, 20 minutes from Tunis-Carthage airport. Listed by the MICHELIN Guide, with no Key shown. No Forbes Travel Guide rating foundThe Residence Tunis, MICHELIN Guide
The Mora Sahara Tozeur, formerly Anantara Sahara Tozeur Resort and VillasTUI announced on 2 October 2025 that it would run the hotel as The Mora Sahara Tozeur from 1 November 2025, replacing Anantara. It has 93 rooms and villas, three restaurants and a spa, and is the second The Mora after Zanzibar. The MICHELIN Guide lists it under the new name with One MICHELIN Key. We found no TUI release after it was due to startTUI Group, MICHELIN Guide
La Cigale TabarkaOperating. Its official site is live. In the Mourjane tourist zone, 2 km from Tabarka's historic centre, on the beach beside a pine forest and a golf course. Its site says the golf course is being refreshed. No Forbes or MICHELIN listing foundLa Cigale Tabarka
Mövenpick Resort and Marine Spa SousseOperating. Its official page is live and bookable. On Boulevard du 14 Janvier, opened in 2010, with 618 rooms and suites, 4 restaurants and 6 bars. Its page title says 5 StarAccor
Radisson Blu Palace Resort and Thalasso, DjerbaProbably operating. Booking listings were active in March and April 2026 and we found no closure or rebrand. Radisson's own page refused automated requests, so this is not verified at its source. Names differ between listings. In the Mezraya tourist zone at Midoun, built in 1997, and a meetings directory lists 296 roomsHotels.com listing
Hotel La Kasbah, KairouanOperating according to tour operator pages. We found no official website. In the walled city, with two restaurants, an outdoor pool and a hammam. The star rating is unresolved: Gate 1 says superior tourist class, Wild Frontiers says standard, and booking sites say five starsWild Frontiers, Gate 1 Travel

Our ten and eleven day sheets name The Mora Sahara Tozeur beside Tameghza Palace and Dar Habibi at the Tozeur stop. It is not a separate stop. We found no claim that Hotel La Kasbah occupies a 17th century kasbah, and we make none.

What the two rating guides say

Forbes Travel Guide lists one hotel in Tunisia, Four Seasons Hotel Tunis, at Four-Star, and no Five-Star or Recommended Tunisian hotel (Forbes Travel Guide). That hotel is not on any of our programmes.

The MICHELIN Guide's hotel list for Tunis and its surroundings shows three hotels, and none carries a Key: Maison Dedine in Sidi Bou Said, labelled new, The Residence Tunis and Four Seasons Hotel Tunis (MICHELIN Guide). It gives The Mora Sahara Tozeur One MICHELIN Key.

What we could not check

The research behind this page covered six properties. For the rest, Dar Said, El Mouradi Gammarth, Hotel la Foret, Tameghza Palace, Riadh Palms, Pansy Camp, Sahara Lounge, TUI Blue Manar, Le Royal Hammamet and Africajad, we hold only what our own sheets say, and we make no claim about them beyond it.

  • We could not verify an official star classification for La Cigale Tabarka, Radisson Blu Djerba or Hotel La Kasbah.
  • We could not verify that The Mora Sahara Tozeur opened on 1 November 2025. The MICHELIN listing under the new name is the best evidence we found.
  • We found no Forbes Travel Guide rating for The Residence Tunis.
  • Booking sites still mix the names Anantara Sahara Tozeur and The Mora Sahara Tozeur for the same 93 room property.

Questions and answers

What hotels do you use in Tunisia?
Our programmes name 15 properties: Dar Said, The Residence Tunis, El Mouradi Gammarth, La Cigale Tabarka, Hotel la Foret, La Kasbah, Tameghza Palace, Movenpick Sousse, Riadh Palms, Radisson Blu Djerba, Pansy Camp, Sahara Lounge, TUI Blue Manar, Le Royal Hammamet and Africajad. Almost every line in the sheets ends or similar, so a named hotel is the plan and a similar property may stand in. Two do not: Le Royal Hammamet and Africajad, on the twelve day programme, are named flat.
Are your hotels five star?
Our sheets file most private programme hotels under a heading of five stars. A guest house and a desert camp are called what they are, and TUI Blue Manar appears under five stars on one sheet and four on another, so we print no rating for it. These are our sheets' headings and not an independent rating, and we could not verify an official star classification for La Cigale, Radisson or La Kasbah.
Is The Residence Tunis in the MICHELIN Guide?
Yes. It is listed among the hotels of the MICHELIN Guide for Tunis and surroundings, with no Key shown. The Mora Sahara Tozeur holds One MICHELIN Key.
What happened to Anantara Tozeur?
TUI announced on 2 October 2025 that it would run the hotel as The Mora Sahara Tozeur from 1 November 2025, replacing Anantara. It has 93 rooms and villas, and the MICHELIN Guide lists it under the new name. We found no TUI release after the date it was due to start. Our ten and eleven day sheets name The Mora beside Tameghza Palace and Dar Habibi at the Tozeur stop.
Does Forbes Travel Guide rate any hotel in Tunisia?
One: Four Seasons Hotel Tunis, Four-Star, the only Tunisian hotel on Forbes Travel Guide's Tunisia page when we checked on 9 October 2026. It is not one of the hotels on our programmes.
Why does TUI Blue Manar have no star rating on your pages?
Two of our own programme sheets disagree. The seven day sheet lists it under five stars and the Students Fun Tour sheet lists it under four. Both are our documents, so we print neither, because a visitor comparing two pages would otherwise find one property with two ratings.
